HISTORY OF OPIOIDS
Painkillers started to become popular around the 1990’s. When people refer to the opioid epidemic it is usually the abuse of the substances. The opioid epidemic has been compared to the plague because of how many people it is killed. “The abuse of prescription Opioids, and deaths are all aspects of the Opioid epidemic currently affecting the 2.1 million Americans with an Opioid. An average of 115 Americans die each day from Opioid-related overdose.” (“The Opioid Epidemic: America's Biggest Drug Crisis - Rehab Spot.”)
